I know, right? There are already so many running blogs on the Internet—and a lot of them are pretty good! Do we really need another one?
The answer (at least according to me): Probably not, but I’m doing it anyway. Plus, look how hard I worked to create this thing. I even wrote (er, copy/pasted) code!
Oh, right. A few housekeeping things we should cover before this running blog gets super saucy:
- My name is Rich. I’m 31-years old and have been running “seriously” for just under 3 years.
- The last blog I ran was hosted by Xanga (RIP). If you like blogs written by teenagers that whine about the girls who won’t date them, you would have loved it.
- Up until December 2017, I had two jobs. I quit my side hustle to dabble in creative things again, and here we are!
So, what can you expect? Will this be like anything like other running blogs? In a lot of ways, yes! For starters, I wrote a couple race reports last year, which turned out to be a lot of fun. You’ll also get the sordid details about the gear I’m running in, the workouts I’m doing, and any other thoughts I have while I’m dragging myself out of bed for a long run (Spoiler: they will not be super inspirational). There’s also an outside chance that I’ll let you in on one of my favorite group chats from time to time (Spoiler #2: We talk about running).
On a serious note, there are a few people I should thank:
- My wife, Jess, for being the best and putting up with me, even when I don’t make it easy.
- My sister, Kathryn, who’s helping me with all sorts of design issues and refuses to accept my money.
- Rachel Ferrigno, my manager at Stack Overflow, for answering my annoying SEO questions.
- Sarah Woodard, also for answering my annoying SEO questions.
- The Hot Bhattis running team/group chat, for keeping this ridiculous hobby fun, especially when we’re all injured.
- Everyone affiliated with Dashing Whippets Running Team that I’ve run with, for adding more structure to my workout schedule and laughing at my bad jokes during long runs.
Also, thanks to all of you for reading this. If I haven’t annoyed you already, you can subscribe to get my rants via email or RSS feed. You can also follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Ah excited to read witness your love/hate relationship with running via this blog. Also, Xanga, yes! Except mine included angsty lyrics to punk rock bands expressing my unrequited love for boys I had crushes on…
