I’ve been a shameless promoter of my FlipBelt for years. At various races, I’ve sung its praises to the point where complete strangers had to remind me that we were about to start running. And on this blog, I wrote about how I stopped shopping for running belts as soon as I discovered the FlipBelt.
So it probably goes without saying that I was very excited when the folks at FlipBelt offered to send something for me and Jess to test. Cool, right? I’ve always wanted to write the words “this post was made possible by,” and I finally get to do it.
So [deep breath] this post was made possible by FlipBelt!
This was an especially fun development for Jess because they asked if we’d be open to testing a pair of their new(ish) FlipBelt Crops. They’re exactly what you’d imagine: a well-made pair of leggings with a FlipBelt attached at the waist. And surprise, surprise: she really likes them.
Here are some of the highlights from conversations we’ve had about the FlipBelt Crops since we received them.
But First, A Few Details About the FlipBelt Crops
Here are some of the technical highlights of the FlipBelt Crops:
- They’re made of an antimicrobial fabric
- Rear zipper pocket that can hold a couple credit cards and some cash
- Large enough front pockets that can hold most phones (plus a pop socket as we discovered)
If you want even more details, here’s a snapshot directly from the product page:
First Impressions
When the baby refuses to sleep on anything but my chest, I send Jess a lot of text messages. It turned out to be the best way to get her thoughts about the FlipBelt Crops. Here are some of the initial thoughts she had when we received them.
But, good news: After a minute of panic as I asked a few follow up questions, she let me know that they’re far from bulky.
As a standard pair of leggings, the FlipBelt Crops made the grade. We received them on a Friday and Jess wore them a few times over the course of that weekend for two reasons.
A Flattering Fit That Isn’t Too Snug
I don’t have screenshots of this conversation cause it happened in IRL. Here’s a short summary though.
“These aren’t as tight as I thought they would be.”
“Oh, that’s a bummer.”
“No, it’s actually pretty nice.”
We both wondered if the fit would feel different after Jess put a few things in the FlipBelt, so we took a walk around the neighborhood to find out. She packed a set of keys, a few dollars in cash, and her iPhone 7 (plus Otterbox case and pop socket). Then, I took this picture.
The verdict? “I’m surprised that I can’t feel the pop socket,” Jess said. “And I like how high up on my waist these crops land.” Aside from the fit, there was one small detail that Jess was really happy about.
“This key ring is great,” she said. “I wish I had these when I was pregnant.”
And this is the part where I admit that I meant to buy her a pair while she was pregnant, but am not organized sometimes and completely forgot. Sorry, Jess.
Final Thoughts
Since we received the FlipBelt Crops a couple weeks ago, they’ve been washed multiple times because Jess has worn them multiple times. “And not just because they sent us a pair,” she said. “Make sure that’s in the post.” They’re comfortable, flattering, and functional. Plus, they have a FlipBelt attached at the waist, and I’ve already mentioned multiple times that I love my FlipBelt.
So, the TL;DR:
- The FlipBelt Crops are made of high quality materials and are slightly cheaper than many other brands we own
- The key ring was a surprising hit
- I’m annoying about taking pictures for this blog
Huge thanks to Jen Bergman at FlipBelt for sending us a pair of these to try. If you want to get your own FlipBelt Crops, click here to check them out.
