Hey! My name is Rich. I’m a writer and runner based in the ~*big ol’ citayyy*~ (OK, more like a quiet neighborhood in Queens). By day, I’m a Content Marketing Writer for a well-known tech company. In my free time, I over-train for half marathons, under-train for full marathons, and play a healthy dose of video games. I have a beautiful wife named Jess, and together we have a 700 square-foot apartment, 25 mason jars, and zero puppies.
Things You Probably Don’t Need to Know:
- I once appeared on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. Upon seeing me, the restaurant owner insisted that he wouldn’t get thick-rimmed glasses and a cool haircut just to appease people like me.
- I grew up in Central New Jersey. As a result, I don’t enunciate certain words well, love meatball subs, and am prone to asking if you think you’re better than me.
- I ran my first ever mile on my high school’s track, which was condemned by the state of New Jersey at the time because it was riddled with potholes.
Seriously, Why Did You Start This Blog?
Three years ago, I was fired from a job that gave me all sorts of negative feelings. After my funemployment made the sudden transition into bummer-employment, I got tired of sitting around our apartment and decided to go for a run. Perhaps it was because running was cheaper than a MetroCard, or maybe it was because I was enjoying losing all kinds of weight, but I quickly got hooked. A year later, I landed my current job, ran my first half marathon in just over 2 hours and 6 minutes, and have been mistreating my Achilles ever since.
Oh yeah, the blog thing. I’ve wanted to start a personal blog for a while. And by “a while,” I mean that the last time I did this, I was whining on Xanga about the girls that wouldn’t date me. This blog is…not like that. Instead, you’ll find some combination of the following:
- Race recaps
- Gear reviews
- Injury reports
- General thoughts I have while I’m trying to survive speed workouts or long runs
Everything you’ll find here will be honest and a little bit snarky. Unfortunately, I’m not very good at The Gram, and won’t be a great source of inspirational quotes or manicured photos of myself standing on a mountain.
